To the child who will not sleep - Please sleep. Please. Mummy needs you to sleep. You need to sleep, because otherwise you will be very, very grumpy later on and that's no fun for any of us. And I have things I need to do while you sleep. Like eat lunch.
And I'd like to keep knitting this beautifulwool up, because then I don't have to think about everything else going on at the moment. I can just ease back into armchair bliss with needles and wool, and count rows. I can listen to the birds sing, rather than the clash of Mother's Intuition arguing in my head. I can enjoy the sun after a topsy turvy week of weather which has seen high temps and then snow, the winter clothes back on and the heating reinstated, and then the t-shirts bought back out again. It's been nice to just take this out and knit, a simple piece for a small baby, in soft merino/bamboo/silk - simple rows back and forth, with the joy of smooth silky wool becoming something beautiful. The wool is Hedgehog Fibres, the pattern being knit, Just Jussi's Hoodie [but just the pants this time].
Ahh, see now there is quiet, perhaps the child sleeps afterall. Now to steal my time.
